What Does China's Great Re-opening Mean for You?

Panel discussion with four respected experts across sectors shared their insights on China's re-opening and top tips for businesses.

 

1704On April 17th, 2023, the Chinese Business Briefing of the Confucius Institute for Business London(CIBL) was held at the London School of Economics and Political Science as scheduled. The event was conducted both online and offline, attracting business professionals from all over the world, with a total of 60 attendees and 25 on-site listeners. 

The event was moderated by Dr. Catherine Xiang, UK Director of CIBL, who invited four guest speakers to share their experiences and thoughts in their respective industries. The four guest speakers were Sally Maier-Yip, Managing Director and Founder of 11K Consulting; Edith Lai, Senior Associate at Charles Russell Speechly LLP; Rafael Leffa, Executive Director at GWM, and Winnie Seow Mei, Asia Market Lead for Hawksford.

At the beginning, Dr. Catherine Xiang gave an opening speech emphasizing the importance of China's reopening to global business. The keynote speaker Sally gave a presentation on the finding of the well-published report on China's reopening which explored questions such as what does China's reopening mean for companies in their specific industries since the outbreak of the pandemic? How can enterprises adapt to the "new normal"? How can they deepen their partnership with Chinese peers and travelers? 

After the keynote speakers shared their insights, a panel discussion was held to further explore a wide range of topics, including global diversity, cultural awareness, the importance of cross-cultural communication, and Chinese language proficiency. Through the discussion, a consensus was gradually reached on the new values, interests, and needs in the post-pandemic era. It was agreed that building expertise and credibility, as well as mastering Chinese language to improve understanding and engagement, are important secrets to establishing strong partnerships with Chinese peers. The audience at the event gained valuable insights from the discussion.

A Q&A session was set up after the panel discussion to address any questions or concerns the audience had. Based on the guest speakers' sharing, there was a lively discussion and exchange on how to view China's reopening and how to better adapt to the current market environment.

After the lecture, refreshments and drinks were provided, and the attendees engaged in lively conversations about the content of the lecture and their own experiences, making the atmosphere very pleasant. This business talk event not only provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of China's reopening on global business after the pandemic but also provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss future trends with experts and scholars. We believe that this event was a valuable experience for all participants. 

2023年4月17日,伦敦商务孔子学院2023年度商业简谈活动在伦敦政治经济学院如期举行。该活动以线上线下形式展开,吸引了来及世界各地60余位商业人士的线上参与,现场共25位听众参加本次活动。

本次商业简谈活动由伦敦商务孔子学院英方院长项骅博士主持,邀请了四位特邀演讲人以自身行业的经历为基础进行交流。这四位特邀演讲人分别是:漫一传播咨询公司董事总经理兼创始人Sally Maier-Yip,思雅仕律师事务所高级律师助理Edith Lai,GWM执行董事Rafael Leffa, 以及恒可富亚洲市场主管Winnie Seow Mei。  

在活动开始时,项骅院长先做引言,其强调了中国重新开放对全球商业的重要性。随后,我们的嘉宾专家依次发表了演讲,他们从各自行业的角度探讨了中国大复工对全球商业的影响。四位嘉宾分别就中国自疫情之后的重新开放对特定行业的公司意味着什么?企业如何适应这个“新常态”?他们如何与中国同行和旅客更深建立合作伙伴关系?等问题进行了探讨。 

各位演讲嘉宾分享结束后,进行了访谈式交流,讨论了广泛的主题,从全球多元化、文化意识、跨文化交流的重要性和中文技能多方面进行了思考。并且逐渐达成共识,面对后疫情时代的新常态,发现共同的价值观、兴趣和需求;建立专业知识和信誉;掌握中文以提高理解力和参与度是企业与中国同行建立牢固合作伙伴关系的重要秘诀。现场观众收获良多。 

分享结束之后,专门设置了答疑环节。大家根据各位嘉宾的分享,就如何看待中国重新开放、怎样更好应对当前市场环境等问题展开了热烈讨论与分享。
