CIBL receives the award for "Model CI of the Year"

Dec 5-7, 2015 - 10th CI Conference 

On 6 Dec. 2015 Professor Paul Kelly, LSE Pro-Director and CIBL Steering Group Chair, accepted the award for ‘Model Confucius Institute’ on behalf of the LSE Confucius Institute for Business London, CIBL, at the 10th Global Confucius Institute Conference held in Shanghai, China. Mdm Yandong LIU, Vice Premier of P.R. China, presented the award to Prof. Kelly at the opening ceremony of the conference..            

In 2015 the theme of the conference was “Catering to new demand and pushing for integration”. The conference was opened by Chinese Minister of Education, Mr. Guiren YUAN, and Vice Premier of P.R. China, Mdm. Yandong LIU, delivered the keynote speech to a total of over 3000 delegates from Confucius Institutes, CIs, and their host and partner universities from 132 countries attended the conference.

This award is first of all recognition of the wise leadership and skilful management demonstrated by both the host university, the London School of Economics and Political Science, LSE, and the partner university, Tsinghua University, China. It is furthermore recognition of the work that CIBL has done since it won the “Confucius Institute of the Year Award” in 2014. In 2015 CIBL has published a series of Business Chinese text books, a multimedia learning package and is making preparations to hold an international Business Chinese Testing (BCT) Conference at the LSE on 7 Sep. 2016.

The LSE CIBL is proud to have received this award and will continue to work tirelessly to remain a model to other CI’s around the world.
