Mac is a PhD student in Social Research Methods, supervised by Dr Audrey Alejandro and Dr Timothy Hildebrandt. His ESRC-funded doctoral research is empirically about NGOs, polymedia, diaspora, and affect; and is methodologically about discourse analysis, reflexivity, and epistemology. The project straddles social movement studies, cultural critique, and methodology.

He holds an MSc in Social Research Methods from LSE. With over three years of extensive community-based NGO work experience, Mac has held roles as a research assistant and coordinator on projects covering knowledge dissemination (Altmetric), public health (STIs), and multimodal data analysis.
