About me

My name is Lekshmi Prasannan Reeba. I hail from Kerala, situated in the southern India. I hold a 5-year Integrated Master's in Mathematics from the Central University of Tamil Nadu(CUTN), India, and Master of Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences(IIPS), Mumbai. I worked as a project officer in the WHO-SAGE (Study on Global AGEing and Adult Health)-3 India.

During my master's program, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of Prof T V Sekher, the Principal Investigator of the Longitudinal Ageing Study in India, and the Head of the Department of Family & Generations.

My term paper, titled "Association between women's empowerment and fertility intentions among youth in India," reflects my commitment to exploring critical matters within the demographic context, particularly those impacting women. During my master’s, I cleared the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) and qualified for the assistant professorship positions in demography at Indian universities and colleges. I have found teaching very rewarding, and my goal is to pursue an academic career where I can put my energies into research and high quality education.

Currently, I have enrolled in the department of Methodology at LSE. I will be working on my PhD thesis, which explores the role of biomarkers in reproductive health under the guidance of Prof. Tiziana Leone and Dr Emilie Courtin.
