About me

Claire is a PhD candidate in Demography (Social/Formal), supervised by Professor Tiziana Leone and Professor Ernestina Coast. Her research focuses on the sexual and reproductive health of overweight and obese women in low- and middle-income countries, using a mixed-methods approach.

Her research is informed by her multidisciplinary background; she completed preparatory classes in social sciences and mathematics and holds a bachelor's degree in both Sociology and Economics from the École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay. She also has an MSc in Public Policies and Development from the Paris School of Economics and an MSc in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from the LSE.

Claire is passionate about understanding and studying the socio-economic determinants of health inequality, with a focus on weight-related inequality. Her goal is to uncover how this inequality is shaped and to identify the main actors and discourses surrounding the sexual and reproductive health of individuals classified as overweight and obese. Her approach is heavily influenced by framing theory, constructivism, and intersectionality. Consequently, she critically examines statistical constructs such as Body Mass Index and concepts like obesity, along with their use in academic, political, and public spheres.
