My name is Shengding Sun. I am a Fellow in Mathematics (Operations Research) at the London School of Economics. I received my PhD in Algorithms, Combinatorics and Optimization from Georgia Tech, USA in August 2023, supervised by Greg Blekherman and Santanu S. Dey. Between 2023 and 2025 I worked as a Research Associate in Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at University of Cambridge, supervised by Hamza Fawzi. My research interest is broadly in polynomial optimisation, extending to other aspects in semidefinite, mixed integer and combinatorial optimisation. I in particular like to study the underlying mathematics and geometry of optimisation problems, that explain the efficiency and performance (or the lack of it) of algorithms observed in practice.
