I am an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering Systems and Environment in the University of Virginia and an associate professor in the Department of Management Science and Information Systems in Rutgers Business School. I began the appointment in 2016 after spending three years at the London School of Economics as an LSE Fellow, in the Departments of Management and Mathematics and I am pleased to retain this link as a Visiting Senior Fellow.

My work is largely concerned with game theoretic models and their applications to problems of national security, particularly search games, which I study from a game theoretic and algorithmic perspective. I am also interested in understanding and exploiting links between search theory and other areas of operations research such as scheduling and throughput maximization.

I have several publications in prestigious Operations Research journals such as Operations Research and Mathematics of Operations Research. I won the 2013 Doctoral Dissertation Award from the UK Operations Research Society for the most distinguished body of research leading to a doctorate in the field of Operational Research. My collaborators and friends include Alessandro Agentis, Steve Alpern, Spyros Angelopoulos, Robbert Fokkink, Lisa Hellerstein, Kyle Lin, Katerina Papadaki, and László Végh.

I received my doctorate in mathematics from the London School of Economics. I also have experience working as an operations research analyst for the UK government in the Home Office.
