Dimitris Sourvanos is Principal Political Counsellor in the Policy, Strategy and Delivery Department at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In this role, he has been closely involved in country-level analysis for Greece, also working in a country economist capacity, and has represented the EBRD in missions and conferences across Europe. He is an alumnus of the London School of Economics, where he completed an MSc in the Political Economy of Europe, and also holds a Graduate Diploma in Economics from Birkbeck, University of London, and a BA (Ptychion) in International and European Studies from Panteion University of Athens. His publications include work on Greece’s digitalisation and economic recovery, alongside broader analytical research on the political economy and governance of Southeast Europe, where he has contributed policy recommendations.
He has engaged with universities and policy fora in Europe through seminars, lectures and panel discussions, with a focus on economic governance, development strategy and the evolving role of Greece and Southeast Europe in the wider European political economy. His current research examines the deployment of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and its political economy outcomes for Greece, within the broader context of the country’s recovery and transformation since the crisis.
