LSE Chill

Hosted by LSE Arts

Café 54, New Academic Building

Join us for our second LSE Chill of the academic year!

The line-up will be as follows:

Sara Sethia
Sara is an economics student. She likes her sentences a little broken and dressed in metaphors. She believes that poetry can connect people beyond boundaries because there's no shying away from vulnerabilities in a poem; its raw, straight from the heart.

Francois Kabriti
I was just in a couple of bands in high school, I really enjoyed it. So I guess this is my big come back!

Sakshi Mital
I have been writing poetry since school days and am very passionate about but there have been dry writing spells. Last year I finally pushed myself to perform slam poetry for the first time. This piece titled 'A POET'S GUILT' talks about that experience in addition to the guilt of not writing for long.  It is a candid poem about who I am, how am i evolving and any artist would be able to relate to it. The piece has some metaphors to terms used in economics also, reflecting how the economist and poet in me inspire each other.

Roberto Giménez Llamas
I am currently studying a master in European Public Policy, and the music I enjoy the most is late 60s music, since that is when the best sounds and lyrics were around. I will be playing a few of the songs I have been writing over the past few years.

Bali Birch-Lee
A Singer/Songwriter who moonlights as a Sociologist, playing acoustic versions of unashamedly indie songs from their upcoming album. Suggestions for the album title are welcomed to replace the work in progress title of ‘Young, Sad, and Gay’.

You can listen to more of Bali's music here.

Just economics and politics? Think again.  While LSE does not teach arts or music, there is a vibrant cultural side to the School - from weekly free music concerts in the Shaw Library, and an LSE orchestra and choir with their own professional conductors, various film, art and photographic student societies, the annual LSE photo prize competition, the LSE Festival and artist-in-residence projects.
