How to apply

Applications for 2020/21 will open in January 2020.

You should apply online using our online application form, which will be available here from January 2020.

You will be requested to provide/upload the following information:

  • Personal Statement: Describe in approximately 500 words your academic interests and your unique purpose and objectives in undertaking the General Course. Your academic background, strengths and subject interests at LSE are of particular relevance to the selector.

  • Transcript: An up-to-date transcript or record of academic progress covering all your university level study to date. All transcripts should be in English.

  • References: You will be required to provide the names and academic email addresses of two academic referees. It is advisable to select referees who are familiar with your academic work in fields relevant to your General Course application. Your referees will be emailed and invited to complete a short questionnaire and upload their letter of reference.

The LSE General Course application form asks you to identify up to six courses of particular interest to assist us in assessing your application. Ultimately you will only take four year-long courses, so prior to your arrival you will be asked to select four courses for the purposes of pre-registration. These need not be choices from your initial course selections. Please read the information about choosing your courses before you apply.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis until all the available places have been filled. We therefore recommend that you apply as early as possible.
