Coming from a variety of sectors and industries, our panellists represent the diverse backgrounds and career destinations of General Course students.

Meet the Speakers:

Dennis Layton (LinkedIn). Dennis is a Senior Advisor to McKinsey and Company. His work is focused on large scale Organization Transformation projects across the Financial Services, High Tech, Telco, Defense, Health Care and Private Equity Industries. Dennis has been a senior global leader at Oliver Wyman, EY and McKinsey and Company. Dennis joined the General Course at LSE in 1995 from Georgetown University. He graduated Georgetown with an honours degree in Sociology. Outside of his consulting career, he also served in the US Navy and at the Executive Office of the President (The White House), where he worked with the negotiating team that created the foundation for the Free Trade Area of the Americas. Dennis is the founder and CEO of Ikon Exchange which enables institutions and custodians to sell fractionalised shares in fine art to fund preservation, education and charitable activities. Dennis also sits on the Board of Directors for the Lobkowicz Collections, one of the most important Old Master Art, Music and Architecture collections still in private family hands in the world.

 

Laurie Wang (LinkedIn). Laurie Wang is an award-winning social media and digital marketing strategist. She is a Meta and Google-accredited trainer, and founded Creative Minds Digital in 2015 after a decade of experience in the digital marketing industry working with global brands such as British Airways, Pfizer, and IBM. Laurie is a keynote speaker who delivered training and talks with a variety of brands from startups to global brands including Microsoft, Guardian, and Square. She offers strategy, training, workshops, keynotes, and consulting, across various social media platforms and digital marketing channels. Baturalp Peltekoğlu 
(LinkedIn). Baturalp joined LSE from Johns Hopkins University to study on the General Course in 2013-14. Following his last semester at LSE, he completed a 10-week summer internship program at Barclays Investment Bank in London. Receiving a full-time offer to return as an Investment Banking Analyst, he went on to complete his BSc in Applied Mathematics in 2015. Since August 2015, Baturalp has been working within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) of Barclays IB, assisting financial industry clients (e.g. banking institutions, insurance companies, equity funds etc.) with M&A advisory services as well as nicher strategic advisory topics (e.g. capital management, bancassurance, NPE deleveraging etc.). He continues to work in Barclays FIG team and currently serves as a Senior Vice President with a focus on Emerging Europe. With a keen interest in the business side of sport, he is also currently pursuing his “Sport Management and the Business of Football” master’s programme as a part-time student at Birkbeck University.
