Club Financiero Espanol – LSE PhD Scholarship

Club Financiero Español (CFE London), through its charity the Advanced Education Trust (#1165476), offers an annual PhD scholarship in the field of Economics, Business or Finance.

The scholarship is for a specified list of programmes, and is open to residents or nationals of Spain.

CFE London is a private, not-for-profit, non-political association set-up to develop understanding of economics, finance and social sciences in society and to support higher education in these areas. It is made up of 29 Fellows and its Non-Executive Board includes Federico Trillo-Figueroa Martinez-Conde (Spain's ambassador to the United Kingdom), Lord Daniel Brennan QC, and Ricardo Laiseca (Managing Director and Head of Global Finance at BBVA).

On graduation, the Scholar will become a permanent Fellow of CFE London. Scholarship recipients are expected to show commitment to future generations of Spanish leaders through an annual members’ fee of £500 that will be used to support the ongoing scholarship programme. 

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to students who are residents of Spain or of Spanish nationality who have an offer to study on one of the following programmes:

  • MPhil/PhD Accounting
  • MRes/PhD Economics
  • MPhil/PhD Economic Geography
  • MPhil/PhD Economic History
  • MPhil/PhD Environmental Economics
  • MPhil/PhD European Studies
  • MRes/PhD Finance
  • MPhil/PhD International Relations
  • MRes/PhD Management: Employment Relations and Organisational Behaviour
  • MRes/PhD Management: Information Systems and Innovation
  • MPhil/PhD Sociology
  • MPhil/PhD Statistics

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a commitment to the economic development of Spain and its people.

During their studies, the chosen Scholar will present at the CFE London Annual General Meeting on a topic of relevance to the economic position of Spain in the world.

Scholarship amount

The scholarship covers the annual tuition fee of the programme, and an annual stipend for a total of 48 months.
