Dr Emma Soane joined the Department of Management in 2008. She teaches organisational behaviour and leadership to postgraduate students and executives. Dr Soane holds a BSc Psychology (University of Leicester), an MSc Occupational Psychology (University of Sheffield). and a PhD Psychology (University of Sheffield). She is a Chartered Psychologist, a Chartered Scientist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
Dr Soane's research examines how individual differences, team working and organisational environments influence decisions, performance and risk taking. Current projects include studies of decision processes in financial decision making, healthcare, IT and television production. Dr Soane has extensive field work experience in public and private sector organisations, including government departments, local government, NHS hospitals, manufacturing, waste management and top-tier investment banks.
Before joining the department, Dr Soane worked as an assistant psychologist in mental health and learning disabilities services at several NHS trusts. She was a research fellow at London Business School and a senior lecturer then reader at Kingston Business School.
