Olga Makarova is a Senior Lecturer in Russian Studies at Queen Mary University of London, and is covering maternity leave for this academic year at LSE.
She is a Moscow University graduate, having an MA in Linguistics. She has been teaching Russian to speakers of other languages of all levels since 1998. Being a professional translator, she has published a number of translations, some of them book length, including a famous Anton Chekhov: A Life by Donald Rayfield. She has a PhD degree from Queen Mary, University of London for a thesis about the life and works of the publishing tycoon Aleksei Suvorin in late 19C Russia. She is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy.
