About
Mattia Albanese is a Visiting Research Student at the Department of Management of the London School of Economics. He is currently a fourth-year PhD student in the Rome Economics Doctorate—a joint program of the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF), LUISS, and the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Mattia combines theoretical and empirical approaches to study how competition shapes firms’ behaviour, particularly in their investment decisions in people and products. His research lies at the intersection of Industrial organisation and Labour economics, with a focus on training, skill development, and market power.
In his ongoing work, he investigates how labour market dynamics and financial constraints affect firms’ human capital investment choices, and how these decisions in turn influence competition, consumer welfare, and antitrust policy.
Before joining LSE, Mattia earned his MSc in Economics from EIEF–LUISS and his BA in Global Governance from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
