Students in the LSE Library

LSE Access Agreement – Widening participation across the student lifecycle

Our widening participation programme and student bursaries enable students from all social and economic backgrounds to study at LSE.

Receiving a bursary has made me realise that there is a fair opportunity for all students, regardless of your background

Our Widening Participation outreach programme forms part of LSE’s commitment to ensure fair access and equality of opportunity across the whole student lifecycle.

We work with students from age 10 upwards, as well as adult learners at FE colleges, delivering over 35,000 learner hours of outreach annually. For those looking to progress to study at LSE we provide financial support and on-course provision to ensure students from all social and economic backgrounds have what they need to succeed.

We commit half of our additional fee income to the combination of our outreach, undergraduate bursaries, and on-course support. Our Access Agreements, approved by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA), set out in detail our ongoing commitments to those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
