Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building

Formed over 24 years ago, Galliard Ensemble is one of Britain’s leading chamber groups, known for its virtuosic, entertaining and distinctive performance style and its recordings have been widely praised. The Sunday Times, BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone, and BBC Radio 3 have all selected a Galliard Ensemble CD as “outstanding” or as Critics’ Choice.

Giulio Briccialdi      Quintet for Winds in D major, op. 124

Gyorgy Ligeti           Six Bagatelles

Cecilia McDowall   Subject to the weather

Luciano Berio          Opus Number Zoo

The next lunchtime concert will be on Thursday 6 February performed by Quartetto Noûs.

LSE’s Spring Concert which will include performances by the LSE Choir and Orchestra, takes place on 31 March in the beautiful surroundings of St Clement Danes. Tickets will be available to purchase from the LSE online store soon.

Just economics and politics? Think again. While LSE does not teach arts or music, there is a vibrant cultural side to the School - from weekly free music concerts in the Shaw Library, and an LSE orchestra and choir with their own professional conductors, various film, art and photographic student societies, the annual LSE photo prize competition, the LSE Festival and artist-in-residence projects. For more information please view the LSE Arts and Music website.
