About me

Rasha Obaid directs the Economic Development and Post-War Recovery Programme at the Peace Track Initiative, a Yemeni NGO founded and staffed by a  network of Yemeni women.  Rasha has over a decade’s experience in advocating for women.  She sits on the board of a women-founded and women-run agricultural cooperative in Yemen.  Prior to obtaining temporary asylum in the U.K.,  Rasha served as Director of the Division of Women, Peace, and Security at the Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights, where she worked to implement UN Security Council Resolution 3125.  She began her career campaigning for increased women’s political participation and combatting domestic violence as part of the Yemen Women’s National Committee.  As a Visiting Fellow at Women Peace and Security Centre, Rasha is focused on promoting gender-based analysis of post-conflict Yemen, including by producing a shadow commission of inquiry report.
