Kirsty Wadsley

Kirsty Wadsley - Head of Widening Participation

Kirsty has overall responsibility for leading strategic developments in widening participation, including working with colleagues across and outside of LSE on widening participation matters.

She coordinates LSE's Widening Participation Steering Group and the production and monitoring of the School's Access Agreement approved by the Office for Fair Access (OFFA).

With over ten years' experience in developing award-winning widening participation and student recruitment activities, Kirsty is currently vice-chair of the Russell Group Widening Participation Association.

Kirsty initially studied BA (Hons) Business Studies at Nottingham Trent University, completing a sandwich year as a finance analyst at Vauxhall Motors. In 2013 she graduated from MA in Social Justice and Education from the Institute of Education (UCL) and completed a Certificate in Early Childhood from the Montessori Centre International.

She is now a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA) and a Governor at a local further education college.

Rosie Pethica

Rosie Pethica - Deputy Head of Widening Participation

Rosie joined LSE in April 2013 as a Widening Participation Officer before moving into the role of Deputy Head of Widening Participation in 2017.

Rosie oversees the delivery of the widening participation outreach programme as well as managing the annual Black Achievement Conference and leading on the development of the network for LSE students who have engaged in the widening participation pre-entry programme.

Since graduating from the University of York with a BA (Hons) in English Language and Linguistics, Rosie has worked in student recruitment and widening participation roles at various London universities including UCL, as well as managing a university and careers success programme at ARK Schools, an education charity and academy sponsor.

Ellen Austin

Ellen Austin - Data and Policy Analyst

Ellen joined the team in January 2016 in the new role of Data and Policy Analyst. She is responsible for ensuring the team have a robust evidence base to understand the impact of their work and to develop future projects. She also works to explore the experience of widening participation students once they join LSE.

Ellen graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA(Hons) in History, and she also holds a Masters in Social Research and Public Policy from Kings College London. She has spent most of her career in the cultural and higher education sectors.

She joined LSE from a small consultancy specialising in scholarly communications where she led a number of national research projects exploring researcher behaviour and preferences for a wide range of clients including publishers, government agencies and universities.

Dimple himji

Dimple Bhimji - Widening Participation Officer 

Dimple is responsible for the design and delivery of the LSE CHOICE scheme, Introduction to Social Sciences days and the annual BSc Management Taster Day.

After heavy involvement with the widening participation programme while studying BSc Economics at LSE, Dimple completed the Teach First programme. She taught Mathematics at a secondary school in Derbyshire for two years and has gained a PGCE through the programme.

She then joined The Smarty Train, a niche consulting firm specialising in early talent programmes for corporate clients. She worked there for four years in various roles and teams including research, project management, event delivery and client management.

Rosie Hodgart

Rosie Hodgart - Widening Participation Officer

Rosie is responsible for the Pathways Programmes, delivered with support from the Sutton Trust. She also oversees the Year 11 Summer School and Promoting Potential Programmes.

Rosie completed her MA Joint Honours degree in Geography with American Studies at the University of Dundee, with a year abroad in the US. After this, Rosie worked in international education and social mobility, with US students in the UK at Anglo Educational Services, and most recently at the US-UK Fulbright Commission, developing the Sutton Trust US Programme over four years.

Rebecca Saxby

Becky Saxby - Widening Participation Coordinator

Becky is responsible for coordinating on-campus ACE sessions for Years 9-12, the Mentoring Scheme and the Student Ambassador Programme. Since graduating from Cardiff University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, Becky worked briefly in marketing before deciding her career lay working in the Higher Education sector.

Prior to working in the widening participation team at LSE, Becky worked at the Bartlett School of Planning at UCL and a language school located in Bristol.

Anna Trocme Latter

Anna Trocmé Latter - Widening Participation Coordinator

Anna joined the WP Team in August 2016 and is responsible for the Tutoring scheme and Year 12 Politics Conference, as well as working on the LSE CHOICE programme.

After studying French and Italian at the University of Warwick followed by a Master's in Translation at the University of Westminster, Anna worked as a project manager in the translation and digital sectors before making the shift to social mobility and widening participation work.

Jen Cornwell

Jen Cornwell - Widening Participation Coordinator (Pathways)

Jen is responsible for coordinating the Pathways to Law Programme, the Pathways to Banking and Finance Programme and the Introduction to Pathways.

She graduated from the University of East Anglia (UEA) with a BA (Hons) in International Development with Politics and Social Anthropology. During her degree she developed an interest in social mobility and has been working in Widening Participation at UEA and Oxford Brookes University since graduating.

Nikita Gibbs

Nikita Gibbs - Widening Participation Coordinator

Nikita is responsible for coordinating the Moving On programme and providing support for the Black Achievement Conference, Promoting Potential, WP Network and Headstart. 

Nikita graduated from Brunel University with a LLB in Law. With a huge interest in education, she worked in a secondary school as a cover supervisor, particularly with sixth-form law students. After this, she worked with children with severe disabilities in a primary school. As a former widening participation student herself, she developed an interest in widening access into higher education and went on to work for the charity IntoUniversity.

Eleanor Buxton - Widening Participation Assistant

Eleanor is responsible for coordinating the school visit programme as well as assisting with the delivery of widening participation projects. She also supports operations and finance for the team.

While studying at LSE, Eleanor worked as a student ambassador on numerous WP projects. After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Government, she completed the Charity Works Graduate Scheme. She spent the year working frontline in social housing, alongside conducting research, and completing an ILM-accredited leadership development programme.
