Executive LLM: Our world-class teachers
Every module on the Executive LLM is taught by LSE Law School's permanent faculty: the same scholars who teach our full-time students and who research and write at the frontier of their subjects. They bring that work straight into the classroom, in person and in small groups. You won't watch recorded lectures: you'll be taught, and challenged, by the people shaping the debates you're joining.
Here are some of the teachers for our upcoming sessions:
Dr Paul MacMahon is Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Executive LLM. His primary interests are contracts, commercial law, and international arbitration. His work has been cited in the English and Singapore Courts of Appeal, and he is a regular Visiting Professor at Católica Global School of Law in Lisbon.
Professor David Kershaw is an expert in corporate law and was formerly Dean of LSE Law School, between 2021 and 2025. He is a member of LSE Council, the governing body of the university, an Associate Tenant at Cornerstone Barristers, and a former General Editor of the Modern Law Review.
Professor Devika Hovell is Professor of Public International Law, specialising in international criminal law, Security Council practice and procedure, sanctions, international dispute resolution and the law relating to the use of force. Her book The Power of Process examines due process in Security Council sanctions, and she is a Fixed Term Member of Matrix Chambers in London.
Dr Jan Zglinski is Associate Professor of Law at LSE Law School and a Research Fellow of the Oxford Institute of European and Comparative Law. His research focuses on EU constitutional and internal market law, as well as sports law and policy, and his work places a particular emphasis on empirical legal approaches.
Professor Sarah Paterson's researches corporate reorganization and insolvency. Before joining LSE she was a partner in Slaughter and May in London, with whom she retains a consultancy, and she has been a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School. In 2025 she was named Global Restructuring Review's Cross-Border Insolvency Academic of the Year.
Professor Kai Möller is Professor of Law at LSE Law School and an expert in human rights and constitutional law and theory. His work seeks to specify the moral, legal, constitutional and institutional implications of a commitment to human dignity, freedom and equality. He has also held a visiting professorship at the University of São Paulo.
Professor Pablo Ibáñez Colomo is Professor of Law at LSE Law School and an expert in competition law and regulation, particularly in the digital and telecommunications arena. He is also an Ordinary Member of the Competition Appeal Tribunal, a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges, and a Joint General Editor of the Journal of European Competition Law & Practice.
