About me

Harshita Sinha is a MRes/PhD student in the Department of International Development. Her research focuses on the barriers and impact of different strands of migration on women migrants in the context of the informal sector in South Asia. She holds an MSc. Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a B.A in Sociology from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi.  

She has worked as a Research Consultant with Hand in Hand International and International Centre for Research on women on grassroots projects in the context of West Africa and South Asia on women’s empowerment. Her graduate thesis looked at the impact of undocumented migration of low skilled women migrants from Bangladesh to India, a brief of which received the LSE Life Research Prize 2019.

Her research interests include: gender, migration, informal labour markets, marginal communities, South Asia.
