My experience at LSE Summer School is something I will cherish forever. One thing that made it especially memorable was attending the Spark Professional Skills sessions.
I still remember how, even before leaving for Summer School, almost every student who had previously attended told me not to miss the Spark sessions. That immediately made me curious. Every day at 16:00 IST, I would rush to the website to reserve my place for the events. I was honestly shocked by how quickly the slots filled up. Even being a minute late could mean missing out completely. That was when I realised how valuable and popular these sessions really were, and I made it a point to attend as many as possible.
As the weeks passed and the sessions began, I was fascinated by the diversity of people attending them. Students from so many different countries and backgrounds came together, which made every session feel even more engaging. The sessions themselves were extremely informative and explored topics in real depth. They created a space where I could continue learning and interacting with people even outside regular class hours. What I found especially interesting was the variety of events Spark organised across different areas, ranging from entrepreneurship to mental health.
At this stage of my education, these sessions also helped me in a very practical way. Workshops on CV building and LinkedIn profile development were particularly useful. The skills I learned there have helped me strengthen my professional profile, which is incredibly valuable as a student. Being able to take away knowledge and practical skills beyond what I learned in my academic course made the overall experience even more meaningful. The sessions also became a space where I could meet new people, have conversations with students from around the world, and make a few good friends along the way.
Another thing that stood out to me was the quality and depth of the Spark sessions, especially as many were conducted by industry experts who actively work in those fields. Overall, I would strongly recommend attending these sessions, as they leave you with not only valuable knowledge and skills, but also memories and experiences that stay with you long after the programme ends.
