Overview

Artificial intelligence is redrawing the foundations of market competition, and established firms are already losing ground. For leaders, the critical question is no longer how to implement AI, but whether your organisation is positioned to win against both established competitors and AI-startup companies.

Drawing on the London School of Economics and Political Science’s internationally recognised strengths in economics, management, and digital innovation study, The AI Advantage: A Competitive Strategy online course provides a practical, economics-based lens to help you confidently navigate AI-driven market dynamics across different industries.

Over three weeks, you will learn how AI reshapes cost structures, value creation, business models, and competitive positioning, and recognise the signs that your AI advantage is compounding or eroding. Unlike broad AI strategy, governance, or technical courses, this course focused on how to capitalise on AI to defend or gain your organisation’s competitive advantage. You will learn frameworks to test market positions with precision, determine who is best placed to win, and build a defensible response that you can, if you choose, present in your next board or strategy meeting to help support strategic planning, product strategy, and commercial growth.

Impact

  • Get a verdict on where AI is moving the competitive advantage in your market
  • Determine whether established firms or AI-native challengers are better placed to win – and how the former can defend and rebuild their position
  • Test whether your organisation's moat – such as your proprietary data, IP, and distribution channels – is real, and identify where your advantages are compounding or at risk of eroding
  • Leave with an actionable competitive strategy you can use to help guide what’s next in your own organisation, refined with feedback from a subject matter expert
  • Earn a digital badge and certificate of completion from LSE
