Overview

Most organisations are busy running AI pilots, but few leaders can turn that activity into strategy the board acts on. The LSE AI Leadership Accelerator closes that gap.

Designed for mid- to senior-level leaders, this six-month online programme equips you to assess AI opportunities, build board-ready business cases, and confidently lead AI strategy, without needing a technical background.

Developed with senior industry practitioners and LSE faculty from the Departments of Management and the Data Science Institute, this Accelerator combines real-world projects, leadership coaching and live sessions with LSE tutors, industry experts and a senior peer cohort. You’ll complete the programme with the strategic capabilities and board-ready outputs to drive AI transformation and build your credibility as an AI leader.

Impact

  • Assess where AI can create measurable value, evaluate your organisation's readiness to deliver it, and lead initiatives from pilot to full rollout
  • Produce four strategic outputs to present to senior stakeholders: a board advisory memo, investment-grade business case, change management strategy and executive AI playbook
  • Make the financial case for AI investment and win senior buy-in
  • Develop the critical judgment to evaluate AI complexity, challenge vendor claims and make sound strategic decisions under uncertainty
  • Influence stakeholders, manage resistance and build the cross-functional alignment needed to embed AI across your organisation
  • Develop responsible, compliant AI strategies by navigating ethics, regulation and governance
  • Use AI to enhance your own productivity, decision-making and team performance
  • Benefit from 12 months of 1:1 leadership coaching: six sessions during the programme and six post-programme follow-ups covering implementation, career progression and leadership milestones
  • Earn an LSE certificate that signals AI leadership readiness to boards and senior stakeholders

"One of the most useful shifts for me was learning to think about AI value in a more disciplined way: not just whether something sounds innovative, but whether the impact can actually be financially quantified, benchmarked against alternatives or market expectations, and made transferable beyond a single isolated initiative."

Olena Bilan, advanced her skills in AI transformation

Programme content

This online leadership career accelerator is delivered over six months with four core courses and integrated coaching.

Who attends?

This programme is designed for professionals ready to lead AI transformation:

  • Senior leaders & executives: Drive ethical, strategic AI decisions at scale
  • Directors & managers: Translate AI potential into tangible results
  • Consultants: Advise clients with credibility and frameworks
  • Sector specialists: Lead innovation in AI-intensive industries (finance, health, tech, law)

The Accelerator is built for leaders who direct AI rather than build it, with no technical background required. If you already work in a technical role, you'll bridge the gap from expert to strategic leader.
