About me


Previously Head of Psychology at the University of Surrey and prior to that worked at Hampshire Constabulary as their research manager. I am co-director of the Mannheim Centre. I was also the Deputy chair of the Independent Police Commission looking into the future of policing. 

Research interests

Police occupational culture especially gender and diversity as well as stress experienced by officers and staff. Police decision making with reference to rape and murder investigations. Aspects of behavioural investigative advice (formerly known as offender profiling). Advocate of mixed methods research design including semi structured interviews, focus groups, card sorting techniques, questionnaires. Analysis of novel data such as children's drawings
