Valeria was a Visiting fellow at the LSE Middle East Centre She holds a PhD in Demography from LSE and has extensive experience in population data collection, management and analysis. Her work revolves around the use of demographic methods in the study of conflict affected, forcibly displaced and other vulnerable populations to inform humanitarian and development policies and advance human rights and international justice. In 2018 she was appointed as Head of Refugee Registration and Eligibility Services at UNRWA. Prior to joining UNRWA, she worked as Demographer and Statistician at the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. Before then, she was Research Officer at the LSE Middle East Centre and at the Johns Hopkins Center for Humanitarian Health, and served as Research Consultant for UNICEF Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa and UNFPA Regional Office for the Arab States.
