About me

Courtney's work focuses on domestic politics of the Gulf states, with particular interest in Islamism and tribalism. Her DPhil thesis at the University of Oxford examined the socio-political role played by Muslim Brotherhood groups in Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. She previously served as Research Assistant at the Brookings Doha Center, a researcher at the US–Saudi Arabian Business Council, and holds a BA from Princeton University in Near Eastern Studies and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from George Washington University.
