About me

Karin van Es is Assistant Professor of Television and Digital Culture at Utrecht University (the Netherlands) and coordinator of the Datafied Society research platform. Her current work focuses on public broadcasting in the platform society and datavisualizations in everydaylife. She is author of the book The Future of Live (Polity Press, 2016) which interrogates the concept of the ‘live’ in the social media era. Recently, she edited (together with Mirko Tobias Schäfer) the volume The Datafied Society: Studying Culture through Data (Amsterdam University Press, 2016). Presently, she is editing a special issue on Big Data Histories (together with Eef Masson).

During her time at LSE, Dr Van Es is working with Professor Nick Couldry.
