About me

Gijs Marijn van Selm is a PhD researcher based in the International Development department under the supervision of Professor Stuart Gordon and Professor David Lewis. His PhD research focuses on the interplay of locally-led aid, power redistribution, and their impact on the governance of the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.

He holds a Master of Science in International Development with a specialisation on Poverty, Conflict, and Reconstruction from the University of Manchester’s Global Development Institute, and an undergraduate degree in Project and Change management from Windesheim University of Applied Sciences. He is a Research Associate on the Shift-the-Power Lab 2.0 research programme at Partos investigating power inequalities between development NGOs. This programme is a collaboration between researchers from The University of Manchester, Wageningen University, Radboud University, Makerere University, the University of Ghana, and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
