Former BSc Accounting and Finance student wins award at the 'City equivalent of Oscars'

On Wednesday 8th June Andrew Wood was named leading European equity analyst at the Thomson Reuters Extel for the fifth consecutive year and for the sixth time in seven years.

Based on the results of the annual Extel Surveys, the awards are highly coveted as they represent independent endorsement of the winner's audience and customers. Winners are judged to be "best in class" in command of their industry, analytical rigor and dedication to client service.

Over the past ten years Andrew has covered European companies, including Unilever and L'Oréal, in his role as Sanford Bernstein's food and consumer goods analyst. Now, with many of the companies he covers succeeding in emerging markets, especially Asia, Sanford Bernstein is relocating him to Singapore.

After studying finance and accounting at LSE  he worked for PwC for six years before moving to PepsiCo in 1991. He had several finance roles with the group in Europe before joining Nabisco in Spain and becoming managing director of the company's Spanish and Portuguese business. In search of "something different", he was hired by Sanford Bernstein in 2001.

The Department of Finance congratulates Andrew on this achievement, and this is further evidence of the strength of both the programme and the highly talented students who graduate from it.
