Ludwig is Institute Manager and head of the Professional Services team in the European Institute. Their primary responsibilities are strategic planning and development, and allocation and management of the Institute’s resources. As part of the EI Leadership team, Ludwig works closely with the academic Head and Deputy Heads of the Institute, and line manages both the Deputy Institute Manager and the Head of External Engagement and Communications. Ludwig also has managerial oversight of the EI's Research and Academic Affairs sub-team.
Ludwig has been working in higher education for more than 20 years, first joining the LSE in 2008. They spent six years as operations manager in LSE’s Undergraduate Admissions Office, overseeing the development and implementation of a new ‘paper-light’ undergraduate admissions system for the School. After this role - and prior to joining the European Institute - Ludwig took a break from Higher Education to work for the Greater London Authority, managing the Mayor of London’s Public Liaison and Community Engagement Unit.
Ludwig's free-time hobbies are music, writing, and football - as fan of both FC Köln and Chelsea FC. Ludwig is also a distance runner - competing each year in several competitive runs, including the Berlin Half Marathon.
