LSE continues to be ranked as one of the top universities in the world, according to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The School has maintained its place as 25th out of the 1102 instructions ranked worldwide, and fifth out of the 93 institutions ranked in the UK.

The rankings scored LSE particularly highly for measures related to international outlook, research quality and the teaching and learning environment, including the proportion of staff to students.

Commenting on LSE’s ranking, Dame Minouche Shafik, Director of LSE, said

“The School’s continued position as a world-leading university is a credit to our diverse community of scholars, staff, students and alumni. LSE is a special place – rooted in London yet with a truly international outlook. This is one of the many reasons why I am excited to be working here.

UK universities – and London universities in particular - continue to thrive in world rankings, but we must not be complacent. Universities themselves – as well as the Government - have a role to play in recognising the value of this privileged position and in ensuring that both students and academics from around the world will always feel welcome here in the UK.”

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings was established in 2003 and is one of the world’s most widely referenced university rankings.
