LSE Chill

Hosted by LSE Arts

Cafe 54, New Academic Building

Join us for our first LSE Chill of the Spring Term, featuring:

6– 6.20pm           Pooja

Pooja is a returning LSE Chill performer with a smooth voice and an engaging mode of expression.

She has been writing music since she was 13 years old. For her, “music has never been just a hobby, and performing helps her to remember how much she loves expressing herself via art”. She plays a mix of jazz/pop, mainly on acoustic guitar; and at LSE CHILL she will be playing her most recent songs.

6.35 – 6.50pm    Sheeba

For those who have missed our last LSE Chill, we have some very good news - you will have another chance to listen to Sheeba’s unique poems of peace, cultural narratives and harmonious coexistence.

Sheeba is studying International Human Rights Law at LSE. She is from Pakistan and has won an international award with her writing about peace from the Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Her success in the Netherlands was covered by a range of Pakistani newspapers, and her poetry has been published in magazines nationwide.  She is an advocate for peace and her poems have a central theme of universality and harmonious coexistence.

7.05 – 7.35pm    Yaqing

Yaqing started composing when she was 15, inspired by the idea that she would love to play something of her own. She uses music as a way of expressing herself. The songs she delivers to the audience are always telling a story, based on real life experiences and her own feelings. Most of her pieces are piano solos, which contain simple and relaxing melodies with a beautiful sound. Her aim is to provoke emotions and ideas in her audience and to encourage people to see life in another, genuine way.

Are you a poet, comedian or budding musician? Are you in a group looking for somewhere to perform? Do you want the opportunity to perform at LSE?

Just economics and politics? Think again.  While LSE does not teach arts or music, there is a vibrant cultural side to the School - from weekly free music concerts in the Shaw Library, and an LSE orchestra and choir with their own professional conductors, various film, art and photographic student societies, the annual LSE photo prize competition, the LSE Literary Festival and artist-in-residence projects. For more information please view the LSE Arts website.

From time to time there are changes to event details so we strongly recommend that if you plan to attend this event you check back on this listing on the day of the event.
