Walking Photography Tour (S1)

 

This crash course on photography will ensure you capture your time at Summer School in one of the most photogenic cities in the world.

This session will start with a briefing that covers:

• Basic photography principles and composition, camera settings
• How do the Rule of Thirds and leading lines influence images
• Compositional techniques and balance, light and colour
• Basic health and safety and risk awareness

Following the briefing we'll move off down towards the Thames along the Northbank and over Waterloo Bridge, heading along the Southbank towards Tate Modern and over Millennium bridge towards St Pauls.

The course leader will be available to answer questions or review images as required.

This session is scheduled to be 3 hours duration, feel free to stay longer if your time permits or leave early. We are close enough to campus at the start/end that a 20-30 minute walk will get you back to sanity.

This course will still run if it's raining, the course leader will make a decision the day before/day of the session taking place.

Important Information:

• Please charge your phone/camera batteries
• Ensure you have an empty memory card in your camera/sufficient space on your phone
• Ensure you are appropriately dressed for the weather, it's likely to be cold and may be a bit wet. Certain surfaces can be a little slippery or uneven (pavements etc).
• Please bring an umbrella just in case - it is the UK after all. 
• Your telephone number is required as you will receive messages from the course leader the day before and on the day of the session.
• Open to LSE Summer School students only. Please ensure to bring your student ID card with you.
• Registration is required and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
• If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket as soon as possible so that your place can be offered to someone else who wishes to attend.
