London, so much to do, so little time. Planning ahead is the secret to enjoying everything that LSE Summer School has to offer, both academically and socially. Once your acceptance arrives, begin with the basics: apply for your visa and join the official LSE Summer School community group (in my year we used Unibuddy but for 2026, Telegram will be your platform!). The team will share the links directly, and they’re an excellent way to meet fellow students even before you arrive.

I attended Session 2, which ran from 14 July to 2 August, a time when London is buzzing with activity. Think Wimbledon, cricket matches, and West End theatre shows. But don’t worry, Session 1 and 3 are buzzing with activity too. With so much happening, costs can rise quickly, and the fear of missing out is real. The best way to stay ahead is to plan early so you can make the most of every opportunity.

When it comes to LSE events, check the events calendar as soon as it’s released. Note down what you’d like to attend and keep your schedule free around booking times, spots fill up fast, and “first come, first served” truly applies here. From day trips and sports sessions to tea afternoons and theatre outings, there’s something for every interest. But don’t miss the Spark Professional Skills sessions. They’re a fantastic way to connect with students from around the world while earning micro-accreditations for your participation. And whatever you do, book the iconic LSE Boat Party as soon as it opens, it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

The LSE Summer School team, along with your new friends, will help you figure out what suits you best. Just remember to plan for the essentials first which include your budget and coursework. It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement, but your classes are intensive, and smart budgeting is key to enjoying all three weeks fully. Review your reading list before arriving and explore affordable meal options close to campus. Pret and Leon are just across the street, while Sainsbury’s and Tesco offer great Meal Deals that will keep both your schedule and your wallet in check.

Summer in London can be magical so plan wisely, stay curious, and soak in every bit of it.
