In November we held our first in-person networking reception for cohorts one and two on our six-month Data Analytics Career Accelerator. This programme, following a project-based approach to learning, introduces students to the core concepts of data analysis, and teaches them to develop fundamental data analytics competencies with relevance in the digital economy, designed in collaboration with our partner FourthRev. The event was held on the top floor of LSE’s New Academic Building with panoramic views of central London, and we were pleased to welcome 40 attendees onto the LSE campus.

The evening began with introductory speeches from Emma Voight, Head of LSE Online, Jack Hylands, Co-Founder of FourthRev and Dr James Abdey, Associate Professorial Lecturer of Statistics and course convenor on the Data Analytics Career Accelerator. Students then had the opportunity to meet their fellow learners, as well as chat to LSE academics; Dr James Abdey, Milt Mavrakakis, Milena Tsvetkova, and Anastasia Kakou.

It was a special moment to attend the first LSE Career Accelerator graduation event to celebrate the achievements of learners across their first two presentations. It was great to meet so many of our growing global student community and to hear time and again that the combination of academic rigour and industry focus had created a unique programme that was already paying dividends in terms of new skills, new jobs and new careers.” Jack Hylands, Co-Founder of FourthRev

It was great to attend the LSE networking event back in November and finally meet my fellow students face to face and of course some of the key facilitators who contributed to the contents of the course. The venue was well located and gave us an opportunity to discuss our experiences of completing the course and what we wish to pursue for the future. I had the chance to bounce off some ideas with some of the facilitators and this gave me the confidence to continue down the path that I am planning to take. We all received a nice little goody bag as well, so that was a nice surprise!” Haroon Miah, Data Analytics Career Accelerator student

"We were so pleased to welcome our first ever two cohorts of Career Accelerator students onto campus to celebrate their success in their studies. It was great to see them sharing their experiences of applying for roles off the back of the programme and we wish them all the best of luck for the future - please stay in touch!" Emma Voight, Head of LSE Online

We very much look forward to welcoming cohorts three and four of our Career Accelerator learners onto campus for our next event in the summer.
