"I was able to apply the course theory and practicalities instantly in my everyday work. A good kick-starter."

New skills from day one

As a Venture Builder, launching, building and scaling global ESG ventures, I am always looking to gain new skills to bring to my commercial and strategic roles. I started researching executive education courses, searching for programmes that would teach me knowledge that I could apply to my day-to-day work. I wanted to kick-start new skills to bring into my workplace.

I chose to study on the Corporate Finance and Strategy programme as it was a concentrated week, in person on the LSE campus. The programme promised to apply the tools of corporate finance to boost strategic decision making. The key topics that we studied included mastery of financial markets and project valuation; strategies for corporate restructuring, buyouts, raising capital and IPOs; mergers and acquisitions in the context of corporate and competitive strategy; and new business strategies. I appreciated the good mix of study techniques, which included case studies, exercises, group work, discussions, and study sessions.

Theoretical deepness and practical savviness

The programme was led by world expert LSE faculty, from the Department of Finance. There were aspects of the programme that I found particularly valuable. I found that the teachers knew how to explain the materials with the right mix of theoretical deepness and practical savviness.

When I returned to work, I was able to implement the skills that I had learned on the programme. In that sense, the programme was a good kick-starter to making better financial and strategic decisions at work.
