This course is available on the MSc in Management (1 Year Programme) and MSc in Management (1 Year Programme) (Work Placement Pathway). This course is not available as an outside option to students on other programmes.
Course content
The intention behind this course is to ensure that students are supported to develop the skills required in an increasingly competitive job market as well as for their own personal and professional development.
The course will focus on developing the skills needed to better manage yourself, teams and organisations. Topics will include:
Managing yourself
- Building self-awareness
- Developing technical and digital skills for the workplace
- Communicating your USP
Managing teams
Understanding how to manage and lead teams through attending workshops that cover topics such as:
- Group dynamics
- Presentation skills
- Leadership
- Negotiation and influencing
Managing organisations
A speaker series with alumni and professionals from various business functions and industries, aligned with curriculum and electives. This is intended to provide you with the bigger picture of how organisations work. Topics may include but are not limited to:
- Human resources
- Marketing
- IT/Technology
- Finance
- Supply chain
- Operations
- Business transformation
Teaching
10 hours of lectures in the Autumn Term.
10 hours of lectures in the Winter Term.
This course has a reading week in Week 6 of Autumn and Winter Term.
Most of the sessions will take place in the evening to ensure room availability and avoid clashes with teaching.
