This course is compulsory on the LLM (extended part-time), LLM (full-time) and University of Pennsylvania Law School LLM Visiting Students. This course is not available as an outside option to students on other programmes.

This course introduces a range of essential concepts, ideas and terminology, as well as providing core knowledge required for the LLM programme. The course is designed to give students the principles and reasoning required for the advanced level teaching of the LLM.

This course will run in the week before Welcome Week and will cover particular areas of law including Regulation, EU Law, Public International Law and Common Law. 

The learning acquired in this course will continue into the taught courses of the LLM. Covering this introductory material prior to the start of academic year allows the teaching in the Autumn and Winter terms to reach a more advanced level and greater depth than would otherwise be possible.
