This course is compulsory on the MPhil/PhD in Economic Geography, MPhil/PhD in Environmental Economics, MPhil/PhD in Environmental Policy and Development, MPhil/PhD in Human Geography and Urban Studies and MPhil/PhD in Regional and Urban Planning Studies. This course is available with permission as an outside option to students on other programmes where regulations permit.

For all MPhil/PhD students registered in the Department of Geography and Environment and staff. Other interested students may attend.

Topical seminar series involving presentations by speakers from both inside and outside the Department on aspects of their own research.

There are four different seminar series taking place regularly throughout the year, organised by the three research clusters in the Department of Geography & Environment: the Economic Geography cluster organises two seminar series, the Economic Geography and Spatial Economics (EGSE) Seminar and the Trade and Urban Seminar (organised jointly with the Centre for Economic Performance); the Environmental Economics cluster seminar series organized together with the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment; and the Human Geography seminar series. The timing and length of each seminar series vary across research clusters and schedules and format are subject to change depending on the availability of speakers.  

This course is not intended as preparation for any particular examination. But, students will find it useful in increasing their awareness of current research and the application of research methods across the discipline.
