Advanced Financial Economics provides an introduction to major questions in modern academic research in finance. The course focuses on how frictions in financial markets shape corporate financing and investment, financial intermediation, asset prices, and the macroeconomy. It examines selected topics in academic research, including information frictions, regulation, and government interventions in financial markets. The course is intended for students who are interested in how theoretical models and empirical tools can be used to better understand the causes and consequences of frictions in financial markets.

30 hours of seminars in the Winter Term.

This course is taught in an interactive format. There is no distinction between lectures and classes/seminars; there are simply “sessions” where the pedagogical approach is always interactive.

Regular problem sets.

Lecture notes will be provided, and journal articles will be required to be read.
