Availability

This course is compulsory on the MSc in Social Research Methods. This course is not available as an outside option to students on other programmes.

Course content

Students are required to write a 10,000 word dissertation. The dissertation is based on an empirical investigation of an issue relevant to the programme content and on a topic within the field covered by their specialist subject and agreed with their supervisor.

Teaching

This course has a reading week in Week 6 of Autumn and Winter Term.

Formative assessment

Each student will be required to give a short presentation outlining the subject of their dissertation and the proposed argument of the dissertation in a session organised for all students during ST.
