Availability

This course is available on the MSc in Operations Research & Analytics. This course is not available as an outside option to students on other programmes.

Cannot be taken with MA426 Dissertation in Operations Research & Analytics.

Course content

The student will carry out and report upon a substantial practical piece of work in Operations Research & Analytics. This may include elements of modelling, optimisation, AI, machine learning, data science, and human factors.  The project is typically a consulting-like placement with an industry, government, or non-profit partner.

Teaching

Teaching for this course is delivered through seminars totalling a minimum of 12 hours across the year. 

Formative assessment

Each student will produce a CV and a short interim project report.

Detailed suggestions for reading will be provided in the course of supervision.

Assessment

Project (100%)

The student is expected to work on the project full-time from early June until end of August, possibly at the client site.  The project is due around a date at the end of August.
