Course content

This course is designed to deepen students’ knowledge and use of academic English vocabulary, with a focus on the stylistic and structural features that characterize effective scholarly writing. Through analysis of authentic academic texts and guided practice, students will explore the use of noun and verb phrases, academic collocations, and metaphorical language. The course emphasizes how these elements contribute to clarity, precision, and persuasive academic style. Students will also develop strategies for expanding their academic vocabulary and making informed stylistic choices to suit different rhetorical purposes in their writing.

This course will be offered at four different times during the academic year namely: AT Wks 2-5; AT Wks 7-10; WT Wks 2-5; WT Wks 7-10
