Course content

This course is intended partially to fulfil the requirements for recognition of the LLB by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board Malaysia.  It should also be of wider interest for LLB students hoping to pursue a career in legal practice as a solicitor, at the bar, or in house.  The course starts by analysing and evaluating the ways in which trusts are used in finance and investment, starting with loans and bonds, before considering how trusts inform proprietary interests in fungible assets and how Quistclose trusts can be used to encourage investment.  At each stage, students will gain a solid grip of doctrine and then apply what they have learnt to real-world situations.  The final part of the course will focus on private wealth management, including family trusts and pensions.
