Availability

This course is compulsory on the MPhil/PhD in International History. This course is not available as an outside option to students on other programmes.

Course content

This course’s primary objective is to focus on the upscaling of first year research students with a focus on supporting their preparation for the submission of their dossier for the upgrade examination. As part of this it includes inspirational talks from guest speakers, oral history and effective writing. Additionally the course offers a number of seminars open to other year groups focused on upskilling in interview techniques, writing peer reviewed articles and pursuing academic and non-academic careers.

Teaching

20 hours of seminars in the Winter Term.
20 hours of seminars in the Autumn Term.
6 hours of seminars in the Spring Term.

This course has a reading week in Week 6 of Autumn and Winter Term.
