Availability

This course is compulsory on the BSc in Finance. This course is not available as an outside option to students on other programmes. This course is not available to General Course students.

Please note: This course is a new course for the 2026/27 session, therefore it is not available in 2025/26. 

This course does not permit auditing students.

Course content

This course will study the relationship between financial markets and the macro-economy. Topics include the behaviour of returns of different asset classes over the business cycle, the relationship between returns and inflation, and the implications for expected returns and portfolio choice.

Teaching

33 hours of seminars in the Winter Term.

This course is taught in the interactive lecturing format. There is no distinction between lectures and classes/seminars; there are “sessions” only, and the pedagogical approach in each session is interactive.
