Please read the following local rules in conjunction with the relevant scheme paragraph in the Classification Scheme for this programme:

These Exam Sub-Board 'local rules' apply to the following programmes:
MSc in Environment and Development

Additional criteria for the award of Merit/Distinction (scheme section 2):
For overall Distinction:
For students taking the GY489 dissertation: they must achieve a Merit in GY489 to be awarded a Distinction overall.
For students not taking the GY489 dissertation: they must achieve Merit marks in both GY473 and GY474 to be awarded a Distinction overall.
Where students otherwise meet the criteria for an overall Distinction but do not achieve ether a Merit mark in GY489 if taken, or Merit marks in both GY473 and GY474 where GY489 is not taken, an overall Merit shall be awarded.
For overall Merit:
For students taking the GY489 dissertation: they must achieve a Merit in GY489 to be awarded a Merit overall.
For students not taking the GY489 dissertation: they must achieve Merit marks in both GY473 and GY474 to be awarded a Merit overall.
