Availability

This course is compulsory on the MSc in African Development, MSc in Development Management, MSc in Development Studies and MSc in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies. This course is not available as an outside option.

It is a compulsory course for all ID students.

Course content

The objectives of the course are: a) to introduce students to the practical world of development which will both facilitate their `career paths’ and also prepare them for the consultancy projects by becoming more familiar with how such organisations think and work; b) to introduce students to the interface between policy practice and development academe. Each week speakers from different development organisations will speak to students about policy and research work in their organisation, how their organisation uses research and for what purposes, and some of the hot topics.
