Availability
This course is compulsory on the MSc in Management Science (Operational Research). This course is available on the MSc in Applicable Mathematics, MSc in Management, MSc in Management (CEMS MIM), MSc in Management Science (Decision Sciences) and MSc in Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation. This course is available as an outside option to students on other programmes where regulations permit.
Course content
An introduction to a range of Operational Research techniques. The particular techniques taught may vary slightly from year to year. Topics normally covered are: inventory models, forecasting, queueing theory, replacement, critical path analysis, dynamic programming, markov chains, and game theory.
Teaching
14 hours of lectures and 14 hours of seminars in the LT. 4 hours of lectures in the ST.

Recommended books are: Wayne Winston, Operational Research; Applications and Algorithms, Fourth/International Student Edition.
Students may also wish to consult: F S Hillier & G J Lieberman, Introduction to Operations Research, 7th edn.
Assessment
Exam (100%, duration: 3 hours) in the main exam period.
